The event will take place in the beautiful surroundings of the John Rylands Library and will be preceded by a full album playback. Music writer and author Jon Savage will talk with Neil and Chris and then invite questions from the audience. ‘Nonetheless’ is PSB’s 15th album and was produced by James Ford. The Guardian have already described it as “gorgeous…it basks in songwriterly lusciousness”. Jon Savage’s acclaimed books include ‘Teenage’, ‘1966: The Year the Decade Exploded” and ‘England’s Dreaming’ which is seen as the classic book about punk. His new book, ‘The Secret Public: How LGBTQ Performers Shaped Popular Music” will be published in June. He is also a Professor of Popular Culture at the University of Manchester. Tickets are now available through the Crash Records website here and are limited to one per person. The event is open to all ages but under-14’s must be accompanied by an adult. Doors open at 6.30pm. The album playback begins at 6.45pm and the conversation with Jon Savage is at 7.30pm, followed by an audience Q&A at 8.30pm. Pet Shop Boys said today: “It will be great to be in Manchester on the day our new album is released. We have many friends in the city and it’s always a real pleasure returning there.” ‘Nonetheless’ is released on April 26 on Parlophone. Pet Shop Boys play Manchester Co-op Live on June 9 as part of their Dreamworld: the Greatest Hits live tour. Jon Savage’s new book ‘The Secret Public’ will be published by Faber in June.
