Director Makoto Shinkai's 'Suzume' Streams Globally On Netflix From April 6

5 April 2024 – Netflix announced that Suzume, created by acclaimed filmmaker and novelist Makoto Shinkai, will be available on the service in 169 countries from today. More countries will be added next year.

In Japan, the animated film started streaming exclusively on Netflix on April 5. Adding Suzume to the service is part of Netflix’s ongoing efforts to expand its extensive anime library, in addition to Studio Ghibli Films and Studio Ponoc films, providing a broader audience with the opportunity to discover best-in-class anime.

The film tells a modern action-adventure road story, following 17-year-old high school student Suzume Iwato as she helps a mysterious young man named Souta Munakata in sealing “doors” to prevent a series of disasters across Japan.
