US Alt-Pop artist ‘Bohardt’ releases his latest single ‘Manipulated, produced by Stefan Mac (Young The Giant, Cold War Kids). The San Diego-born, Orange County-based artist draws inspiration from his own experiences, often weaving dark and personal subject matters as diverse as toxic relationships, drug abuse and the chase of self-worth with compelling alternative pop sensibilities to create a sound unique to him.

‘Manipulated’ is no different, the track takes a candid look at the challenges of dealing with depression and ADHD along with the societal stigmas that surround them. Based on his own experiences Bohardt outlines how denying the existence of mental illness and neurodiversity or just ignorance of them can often compound the issue creating an environment where you’re made to feel like the problem. The music represents this frustration throughout, with Bohardt blending together dark synths with distinctive lead guitar lines, grooving drum beats and an impassioned vocal performance that utilises cleaver production techniques with a vocal filter to emphasise Bohardt’s point further.

Bohardt explains the idea behind the track further: “Because of my challenges with mental health, I’m urging people to confront their struggles, challenge their negative thoughts, and seek a clearer and more authentic perspective on life.”

Beneath the insipid nature of the darker themes prevalent in his music, is an individual who wants to heal, while remedying others along the way. Since childhood, music has always been a beacon of solace to Bohardt; the lighthouse that has illuminated a path forward for him, despite the obstacles along the way. He now hopes to shine that same light towards his fans, radiating his messages through the unity and celebration of song and dance. Bohardt has since put out a slew of singles since 2019, amassing over 100,000 streams throughout his catalogue and garnering favourable reviews from the likes of AMW Group, Daily Music Roll, Planet Singer and FAME Magazine to name a few.
