English singer-songwriter Chris Ostler releases energetic new single ‘Funk In The Trunk’. Known for his eclectic sound, Chris blends Pop/Rock elements often with country and funk tendencies to create memorable tracks that brim with emotion and energy. Proudly neurodivergent, Chris wishes to help others, using music to make a positive difference in the world. Chris’ autism only serves to enhance the way he writes and plays.

‘Funk In The Trunk’ is a true homage to individuality and creativity, and encourages the listener to break free from societal norms and create your own path while most importantly having fun. A subject close to Chris’ heart, ‘Funk In The Trunk’ was created out of his own experiences. Always one to enjoy a party, Chris often found it difficult to connect and fit in with any particular social group along with their set of ‘rules’, ‘expectations’ and ‘unwritten’ sub-cultures. Chris explains further “More often than not, I’d feel awkward. I decided to create my own culture, one where it doesn’t matter who you are, what you wear or even how you dance. It’s all about the music, relaxing, having fun, and enjoying yourself with others.”

Backed by choppy electric guitar lines, infectious basslines and grooving drum patterns that sit under Chris Ostler’s dynamic vocal performance, ‘Funk In The Trunk’ delivers on Chris’ goal of bringing the party vibe. The track's accompanying music video continues this trend as Chris dons a home-made robot suit combining a ‘Saturday Night Fever’ meets ‘Iron Man’ aesthetic. As Chris puts it, “The suit was made with boxes, glue, and tape, demonstrating that you can put anything together, look and feel great, and still have a good time! All we want is to celebrate and enjoy our uniqueness together. This party is wherever you make it, with an open invitation to anyone wanting to come on in…”

Hailing from Exeter, Chris Ostler has performed extensively throughout the country. He continues to draw in crowds with his charismatic presence and lively performances, gaining him the privilege of opening for international artists including Joan Armatrading, Chris Barron (Spin Doctors) and Martin Barre (Jethro Tull) and garnering support from several BBC Radio stations such as Devon, Leicester and ‘BBC Introducing Southwest’ along the way. He is now back with his latest single ‘Funk In The Trunk’, and a heavy touring schedule which includes slots at ‘Oceanfest’, Glastonbudget, Snooky Fest and Abbfest, 2023 is shaping up to be a busy one for the singer-songwriter with two more singles and an EP along the way.
