Atlantic Canadian pop singer-songwriter, Apryll Aileen has just released her new single “Wicked Ways” - a melodic introspective forgiveness letter.

The song is meant to give hope to anyone struggling with addiction, pain, remorse, anger, depression and/or suffering. Forgiveness starts internally - once we accept the dark side of who we are and shine a light on the shadows, only then can we transcend the negativity and start to heal. The power is within us, to choose how we react to problems in life.

It is also an internal reflection of how we judge ourselves and others. No one is perfect and we don’t know the full story behind what makes someone lash out in anger or choose an addictive substance as a coping mechanism.

Aileen wrote the song “Wicked Ways” with producer/songwriter Benie Beatz, when she was in Los Angeles working on some film projects:

“At the time, I was working on scripts with some pretty heavy subject matter around addictions and violence. Benie and I really wanted to shine a light and create awareness for ourselves and others. Too often, we condemn people and turn them into monsters which makes it hard for them to become better if we don’t give them a chance to believe they can behave differently. Forgiveness is truly an act of grace for it is one of the most difficult things we can do."
