The album titled “Thought You Should Know” is named after the second track on the album. It consists of 10 songs, all written by Lucy Daley. She co-wrote the song “Act My Age” with friend and songwriter Kassidy Knight and co-wrote “Friends With His Ex” with songwriter and fellow indie artist Maddy Hicks. All the other songs are self-written. She produced the entire album herself. The entire album was mixed and mastered by Brittany Rogers. 

The indie-pop/folk album covers different themes such as love, loss, being young, and starting over. Multiple songs on the album cover the idea of moving on with life and looking for a fresh start. Lucy took inspiration from her personal life as well as some of her favorite books, movies, and tv shows as she wrote these songs for her album. 

She recorded and produced the bulk of the album in 2022 while she was moving around a lot. She recorded a few songs in her bedroom in her parents house in Cary, North Carolina, a few in her bedroom in her old apartment in Nashville, Tennessee, and a few at her grandparents house in Orange County, Southern California when she was living with them.
