New Retro Pop and Electropop artist Melotika takes us back to 2009 with the release of her second single of the year, Party Like 2009 — out now.

The track is a follow up since her latest single Pressure feat. Krosst Out that sounds like the pop era of 2009 in an alternate, more modern universe. “I feel like a lot of music today is already reminiscent of the 2000’s era with all of the sampling going on in popular music. Being a New Retro Pop artist, I take inspiration from the music I love most and wanted to reinvent this era all in one track with an original piece of music.” Melotika — nee Melany Yelle-Nikischer — offers. “It's the energy of dance-pop from the 2000’s that we are craving and I personally find it very empowering. This is an era I grew up in and it defined Millennials and Gen Z’s and I wanted to celebrate it by writing this anthem.”

The transition from releasing Pressure to Party Like 2009 was without fault—everything Pop music needs. In Pressure, Melotika sings about the immense pressure that she, and many others, feel to conform to industry standards and create a social media presence that appeals to everyone. The song is commanding and encourages listeners to break free from the expectations of others and be true to themselves, no matter how much pressure they may face. It's packed with groove, is as electric as it gets, and perfectly walks the line between neo and retro—everything Melotika is all about. Party Like 2009 is evidently Melotika’s resurrection in the music industry. Fearlessly, she is shoving-in-your-face her genuine and ongoing message once more with a celestial and powerhouse vocal performance leaving you wanting to head out to the discotheque immediately. Party Like 2009 defines youth for Millennials and inspires Gen Z’s to shut down the phones, disconnect from the noise, and dance.

“The song lyrically references music from the 2007-2009 era as a quirky homage to this time period which I think is the golden age for dance pop. However, It's easy to get lost in the party life and there is a sort of darkness to the party scene that's often heavily promoted in media that also gets revealed through this song. It's bittersweet.” Melotika expresses. “... getting drunk, getting high, it's all the same when getting by. But don’t forget just who you are, this remedy is out of line.”
