I was still living down in Denton, Texas and had been playing around with a drum fill that you hear throughout the song, but I had never really written songs on the drums before. I started playing around with the rest of the song on keys and bass first and completed the lyrics during a time where a close relationship of mine was severely strained, and some damage had been done to the friendship. Despite the song being a dreamier style, there is pain in the lyrics behind it, but I like to believe that there is a glimmer of repair underlying the tone of it all."
