Music Bear Tony Banks drops house infused ‘Run’ before release of his new EP

“If there is anyone that can conquer this particular scene and transcend sexuality in doing so, Tony is that guy.” Ryan Shea-Manhattan Digest

Artist: Tony Banks

Track: ‘Run’ from Yes Homo EP

Release Date: 23/06/17

Raised during the golden-era of hip-hop, LGBT artist, Music Bear Tony Banks, is making a name for himself with his unique and lyric-led brand of dance infused hip-hop.

In a world where hip-hop has typically been perceived as ‘straight’, Tony has had to find his own voice and niche within the genre, defying many of our conventional conceptions of modern music. Now he is back with the minimalist-house infused ‘Run’ featuring EarthTone and JwlB, the second single from his upcoming EP Yes Homo.

Based in Brooklyn, New York, a hive of musical activity, the up-and-coming hip-hop storyteller has cemented himself on the scene with his trademark smooth rhythms, infectious beats and intelligent vocals. Standing out from the crowd whilst going from nothing to something, all on his own merits with the help of his outspoken and unapologetic personality – Tony personifies the American Dream.

Tony’s passion for music began at a young age when he performed in his local church choir. He continued that passion into his teen years when, at 15 years old, he started writing lyrics and producing his own beats. Thereafter, he immersed himself in the recording studio, where he honed his skills and continued his journey towards finding himself and his voice as an artist. Tony’s childhood was unfortunately a difficult time for him, due to his abusive step-father, but music quickly became a form of mental relief for the budding musician.

With musical influences ranging from the likes of Michael Jackson, Missy Elliott, Andre 3000, Tony has developed an individual style of his own that cleverly borrows elements from these iconic artists, embellishing upon them all the while. In the past, Tony has also opened for Cakes Da Killa, Mykki Blanco and he has also worked with JwLB of Yo! Majesty. Described as ‘Move ya feet, feel good’ music with a touch of the reality we live in, songs like ‘Run’ encapsulate exactly what Tony Banks is all about; pushing boundaries and making killer beats.
