Juga has combined the worlds of Chess, cinema and music in a way which is completely befitting of a game that entrances billions around the world, with the intrigue, drama and psychology of both.

Juga is a Chilean artist who is pioneering links between the worlds of art and chess, combining her life as a recording artist with her role as both a celebrated artistic ambassador for chess worldwide and a women’s chess activist.

Juga’s first release could well be the greatest Bond theme never to feature in a film – a combination of lush orchestration, Spaghetti Western guitar twang, and Juga’s spine-chillingly yearning vocals. With lyrics referencing the Cuban world champion from the 1920’s Jose Raul Capablanca, often referred to as the greatest player of all-time, the track, as well as its stunning animated video, show Chess as a battle of wits and emotion as dramatic as any Hollywood movie.

With her stunning and distinctive image and comparisons to conceptual artists as varied as Kate Bush, David Bowie and Edith Piaf, Juga has already captured the hearts of Chess enthusiasts worldwide with live performances of the track at the 2018 Chess Olympiad in Georgia and the Global Chess Festival in Budapest, with her target now being to introduce the wider world to the science, psychology and art of Chess.

As the World Championship in London sees Norway take on America, echoes of the 1972 Cold War battle of Fischer versus Spassky loom large, the perfect backdrop to Juga’s track which receives this cinematic blockbuster action of James Bond and Quentin Tarantino enter the battlefield of the world’s most popular, brain-stretching game.
