As back-stories go, the tale of London-based rapper Ugo Nelson, who performs as MXOM, makes for a fascinating read. He grew up in the streets of Croydon before taking the decision to step away from nefarious influences, relocating to Silicon Valley, where he founded his own tech company. That he gave this up to return to music says a lot about Nelson's determination and self-belief.

That self-belief is amply justified with new single, “Wezzy,” an adventurous and original mix of old-school hip-hop and futuristic grime/electronica. “Wezzy” says a lot over its relatively short run-time. Without doubt it announces the arrival of a notable new talent on the scene.
