Reservoir’s President & COO Rell Lafargue has been named to Billboard’s 2023 Indie Power Players list. This list highlights the executives at labels and distributors driving the growing success of the independent music industry.

Lafargue has helped build Reservoir into an indie powerhouse label, and the company is now home to two of the most iconic independent label brands of all time: Chrysalis Records and Tommy Boy Music. Reservoir has grown to represent over 36,000 master recordings worldwide, and through the accumulation of countless culturally important recorded rights across those catalogs, frontline releases, and more, Reservoir continues to grow as a label, already generating over $30 million in recorded music revenue annually.

Notably, in 2021, Rell led the team in working with the pioneering hip-hop group De La Soul to bring its first six albums to streaming platforms for the first time ever. As Billboard reported, Lafargue said, “I am so proud of Reservoir’s commitment to enhancing the value of their music and legacy.” He added, “This was a long-awaited moment for fans and a huge opportunity to cultivate a new generation of De La Soul listeners.”
