“An artist to watch out for - We’re expecting great things of Rheo, as the Midlands answer to Dua Lipa” - BBC Introducing
Championed by BBC Introducing and across tastemaker press, Rheo Uno has established herself as one of the most exciting up and coming pop artists to emerge since her debut release in the summer of 2021. Now back with the new single ‘Don’t Wanna Be In Love (DWBIL)’, the solo artist is once again demonstrating her insatiable dance-pop qualities.
Combining conversational tongue-in-cheek songwriting with her distinctive soulful vocal delivery, dance beats and ultra melodic tracks, Rheo’s songs are relatable and empowering, enhanced by her own unique sense of style and self-assurance. The new single ‘Don’t Wanna Be In Love’ is no exception, delivering super-catchy vocal lines over an infectious beat with a 90’s influenced piano line, subtle electronics and a bopping, funky guitar and bass line. Written in collaboration with Charles Drew (Monarchy Music) and Amira Eldine, DWBIL not only demonstrates Rheo’s impeccable, silky and effortlessly controlled vocals, but also her self-styled water-tight songwriting skills.
Talking about the meaning behind the single and how she has found her musical identity, Rheo shares: “It’s about breaking free and living your best life, escaping a controlling partner and being true to your self.
For the first time, I can actually say I am happy with my sound, it’s who I am, not who I think I should be. I think this new sound I’ve been working on is bouncy and fresh, the fact I can sit and listen to myself on repeat is unheard of so it’s safe to say I’m loving the way these new tracks are sounding.”
Taking consecutive Track of the Week with her last 2 singles on BBC Introducing and following glowing reviews from the likes of C-heads and Gas Mask Magazine, Rheo reached number 14 on the Music Week Commercial Pop Chart and also recently won Unsigned Only 2022 International Songwriting Competition as well as winning best Best Female Solo Artist at the NREA Music Awards 2022. Building a growing fanbase, hitting over 500,000 streams on Spotify alone and now working with internationally renowned producer DJ Tom Enzy, Rheo has found her own unique style and demonstrated what a complete artist she is with commercial appeal, polished production and the perfect pop-star image to boot.
