As party conference season commences, POLITICO and Sky News have partnered to release Politics at Jack and Sam’s, a new weekly podcast which launches on Sunday 1st October.

Two of Britain’s best-connected political journalists, Jack Blanchard and Sam Coates, will give listeners everything they need to know about the week ahead in British politics. With a crucial political year in store, the podcast will provide an essential weekly briefing on what to expect in Westminster and beyond.

Every Sunday, audiences will be welcomed into the home of either Blanchard or Coates. Using their unique positions at the heart of Westminster, the pair will provide the inside track on what is being talked about behind closed doors and look ahead to the big political topics that will lead the news agenda in the days ahead.

They will be joined by expert guests to delve deeper into the big themes expected to dominate the week ahead, helping listeners better understand the fast-moving political world and its implications ahead of the next General Election.

Blanchard, POLITICO’s UK Editor, and inaugural author of the publication’s London Playbook newsletter and host of the Westminster Insider podcast said: “Politics at Jack and Sam’s is going to be the only briefing you need to set you up for the coming week in UK politics. We want to keep our listeners ahead of the game and fully informed about what’s coming next on the political scene. Sam and I have been friends for years and we meet up all the time to swap gossip and intel about Westminster politics over a glass or two of half-decent wine – now we can invite everyone else to join the conversation.”

Coates, Sky News’ Deputy Political Editor, lead journalist for the Westminster Accounts investigation and responsible for breaking many of the UK’s leading political stories said: “I can’t wait to get started with Jack on a podcast designed to catapult you into the heart of the political debate at the start of each week. We’ll be across the key interviews, the stories and the entire political agenda hoping to keep our listeners ahead of the game in UK politics, straight from our sofas every Sunday”.

Dan Williams, Head of Politics, Sky News said: “Sam Coates has an excellent track record leading some of our biggest political stories, along with spearheading the award-winning Westminster Accounts partnership with Tortoise Media. This powerhouse partnership with POLITICO will complement our existing suite of political coverage including our recently launched Politics Hub with Sophy Ridge and Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips, which are both multiplatform offerings that allow audiences to consume the latest political news in whatever way suits them best”.

Speaking on the launch, Kate Day, POLITICO Europe’s Deputy Editor in Chief, said: “We’re incredibly excited to work alongside Sam and the wider Sky News team as part of this new show. Identifying what’s going to drive the day in a fun and insightful way has been a big part of POLITICO’s success, so as we expand further in the UK and across our podcasting slate, Politics at Jack and Sam’s is a vital addition to our coverage. For those who love politics, we can’t think of a better combination to keep you informed and entertained on a Sunday night than listening to Jack and Sam."

New episodes of Politics at Jacks and Sam’s, presented by BP, will be available every Sunday evening from the usual podcast platforms. The first episode will launch on the 1st October and will be recorded just ahead of release from the heart of the Conservative Party conference in Manchester. The second episode will be recorded from the Labour Party conference in Liverpool.
