Sky has announced today that the astonishing crime documentary exploring the murders of Elizabeth and Nicholas Newall, Inheritance: The Jersey Murders will premiere on Sky Documentaries and streaming service NOW on Saturday, 30th March.

The three-part series Sky Original series is directed and produced by Eloise Singer at Singer Studios and executive produced by XYZ Films and Chris Smith’s Library Films.

Amidst the 1987 Great Storm on the island of Jersey, Elizabeth and Nicholas Newall vanish. Suspicion falls on their sons, Roderick and Mark, when blood is found, leading to a murder investigation. Roderick evades the police but is eventually apprehended off the coast of Africa, while Mark is arrested in Europe. Legal complexities result in a secret deal: Roderick serves 12 years for double murder, while Mark serves 22 months and inherits the entire Newall fortune.

More than three decades later, this documentary series uses 70 hours of unheard taped recordings between the brothers to reveal new insight and uncovers how Mark Newall went on to co-found one of the biggest e-commerce companies in the world.

Eloise Singer, Director and Producer said: “This documentary has been six years in the making and my hope is that it will serve as a poignant reminder that the pursuit of truth and justice should never waver."

“My intention is for the story to spark meaningful conversations about the importance of accountability and serve as a catalyst for change. I'm excited to be working with Sky to bring the series to UK audiences.”

Jamie Morris, Director of Programmes, Sky UK said: “We are very excited to be bringing this jaw-dropping documentary series to the UK. Eloise Singer and her team at Singer Studios have produced an incredible investigation into this gripping mystery that has to be seen to be believed, providing new light to a tragic story that has spanned decades. We know it will resonate strongly with Sky customers and we look forward to showing everyone.”
