Ferris & Sylvester -- the 2020 Americana UK Emerging Artist Award-winning duo of Issy Ferris and Archie Sylvester who’ve been praised as an “alt Simon & Garfunkel” (The Guardian) -- released their latest single “Knock You Down,” the next preview from their immaculately crafted EP I Should Be On A Train (out Oct. 2/LAB Records).

“Knock You Down” (out today) is a coming of age anthem that effortlessly combines 60s pop and wistful psychedelia. Ferris & Sylvester use mellotron and earthy, harmony-rich textures to inject a dose of nostalgia into their unique folk-pop sound. Shot on super 8 film at their home in the UK, the accompanying video shows a more personal side of the duo.

“We decided to take this somewhere different, away from anything we have done before,” says Archie & Issy. “For us it feels like the most personal song from the collection, referencing our own childhood nostalgia, like learning about Vikings and pink icing on Fridays.”

“There’s such a pressure on people to reach their goals and dreams as quickly as possible. It can make you feel older than you are, wishing that you could be younger, braver and more free. Making this one was a lot of fun and we hope it awakens the confident, daring child inside the listener.”

“Knock You Down” follows the release of the EP’s lead single and title track “I Should Be On A Train” earlier this month. The explosive blues ballad was quick to draw great praise, including strong support from Bob Harris on his Radio 2 show, while it led BBC Introducing South West to feature the band as their ‘Artist Of The Week’. Ferris & Sylvester were featured as ‘Legends Of The Future’ by Sunday People and the song has continued to receive critical praise from the likes of American Songwriter, Maverick Magazine and many more.

After amassing some 7 million streams on the back of their previous two EPs and singles, supporting the likes of Robert Plant, George Ezra, Eric Clapton (at Hyde Park) and Tyler Childers, and playing festival stages at Glastonbury, The Great Escape and Isle of Wight, 2020 was to be a breakout year for Ferris & Sylvester. The first two months of the year saw them winning the Americana UK award and touring Europe with Jade Bird. And then things ground to a halt.
