Today, in celebration of Black History Month, Ruth B. — the 25-year-old Ethiopian Canadian singer and songwriter who captivated millions via Vine with her 2015 4x Platinum hit “Lost Boy” — releases a new version of her single “If I Have A Son” featuring The Harlem Gospel Travelers. “If I Have A Son” reflects on the dangers Black children are subjected to because of their identity. “No matter what you say, no matter what you do, this world will never be as friendly to you,” Ruth B. sings, a heartbreaking truth delivered with a chilling beauty.

Originally released in June of 2020 as a solo track alongside powerful protest photos captured by New York (Harlem) based photographer Flo Ngala, Ruth says of the track: “”If I Have a Son” is an honest reflection of how I have been feeling… The murder of George Floyd has served as a wake-up call for a lot of people, but for Black people everywhere, this has always been a reality.”

Also, Ruth B. will make an upcoming performance appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. More details to follow.

Ruth B.’s brutally honest perspective and poetic countenance continues to turn heads, as she has garnered over 1.5 billion Artist streams. Her 2019 single, "Slow Fade," is still making radio-airplay moves and impacting HOT AC Radio now. The song has garnered over 48 million streams since release, moving over 280,000 weekly streams, and is steadily making its way up the chart (currently number 30).

In December 2020, Ruth B. partnered with the Recording Academy for a livestream performance to help raise money for Musicares Foundation's COVID-19 Relief Fund. She performed a mix of her old music - including "Lost Boy" - and some of her newer songs "Dirty Nikes" and "Slow Fade."
