Today, Spotify’s global emerging artist programme, RADAR has announced its latest artist partnership for the UK, with 2020’s emerging alternative artist beabadoobee. RADAR is an influential force behind the successful breakthrough of emerging artists and a hallmark catalyst to propel the next generation of global superstars.

The 20-year-old from London has a growing base of hugely-dedicated fans in the UK and globally, and is set to be one of the biggest breakthrough artists and success stories of 2020. beabadoobee has amassed millions of streams on Spotify since her first release in 2017. A significant point of discovery for beabadoobee has been through Powfu’s single death bed (coffee for your head) which samples her first track Coffee - it is so popular that it featured in Spotify’s Songs of Summer playlist this year.

beabadoobee’s bespoke programme of support from Spotify’s RADAR will include:

An immersive fan experience on Spotify via Storylines, in which beabadoobee will take fans ‘behind the songs’ with a track-by-track guide to her debut album ‘Fake It Flowers’ drops on 16th October 2020;

• Production of a print zine that will be offered exclusively to beabadoobee’s top Spotify listeners, with CD insert, and packed full of behind-the-lyrics stories, polaroids and creative from beabadoobee’s own personal collection;

• Features and covers in Spotify’s playlists including RADAR First Listen and Our Generation;

• Marketing promotion across each campaign tentpole including hero OOH marketing.

beabadoobee joins an impressive line-up of RADAR artists from around the world that have seen exponential success through their Spotify partnership including Young T and Bugsey (UK; who made a recent cameo on Barack Obama’s summer playlist), Alaina Castillo (US), J.I The Prince of N.Y (US), Rina Sawayama (JP), and merci, mercy (AU). She is the third UK artist to join the programme after Young T & Bugsey, and Scottish indie band Vistas.

In the words of beabadoobee, “I’m really excited to be picked for Radar: Spotify have been so supportive of me from the very start. From recording my first Spotify Singles at Abbey Road to my debut album, it’s been a crazy journey with them. We’ve worked on something really cool together that I hope people will love!”

Spotify’s Storylines will allow beabadoobee to share her own insights, inspiration, details about her creative process or other meanings behind her music. One such example will be her revelation, “Worth It is about teenage infidelity and the mistakes one can make when they’re tempted by things. It’s a bit of a confession song but also an understanding that it’s part of life.”

Sulinna Ong, Spotify UK/IE, Head of Music, said: “Spotify is the #1 destination for artist discovery and it’s important to us to use that power to help emerging artists across all genres, throughout their careers. We've been fans of beabadoobee since she captured our attention and early editorial support with her first song ‘Coffee’ back in 2017. After watching how our listeners were reacting to her music and seeing her fanbase grow on Spotify, it's now a natural next step for her to join our RADAR programme. She’s a great addition to the RADAR roster, and we are looking forward to continuing to support her journey across the next twelve months.”
