Scotland’s biggest rap star Ransom FA returns with the second release from his forthcoming ‘Momentum’ EP, entitled ‘Momentous’.

In his broad Scottish accent, Ransom FA bounds straight in on the beat with the opening lyric “Might throw me a Scottish National party call me Nicola Sturgeon, just a different version”, making it clear that he is loaded with punches and bars for this latest drop. Once again collaborating with PenHouse, the executive producer on the ‘Momentum’ EP, the ominous drill beat, which is teamed with horror film synths, menacing laughs and cawing crows, is whipped into a bounding rhythm with a skippy quicktime flow from Ransom FA. Having made a bold and confident statement with ‘Man of the Moment’, the first single from his forthcoming EP, Ransom FA ramps up the ‘Momentum’ with this second drop as he explains “I felt it was time to bring some of that northern energy back”.

Reaching the upper echelons of the broader UK rap scene and gracing line ups with the likes of Skepta, Mist and M Huncho, Ransom FA continues to carve out a space for Scottish rappers, using his platform to make statements whilst helping to build the local music and arts scene too. Landing a starring role in BBC’s ‘The Rap Game’, hosted by DJ Target, Krept & Konan, Ransom FA then launched his own BBC 3 show in 2020, ‘The Rap Trip’, travelling across the UK to discover the burgeoning Rap communities emerging across Great Britain. Whilst fronting the show on TV, he continued to release music, seeing him supported by BBC Radio 1Xtra as their track of the week, Radio 1 and Jack Saunders ‘Next Wave’ and also shoot for Notion Magazine in a collaboration with Amazon. Meanwhile, back home in Scotland his work as a passionate activist and notable black figure in the Scottish music industry continues to blossom and his own studio ‘Ransom HQ’ in Aberdeen has opened its doors to give local youths access to the top studio equipment in order to hone their craft.

Preparing to release his 4-track ‘Momentum’ EP on the 25th March, Ransom gives an insight in to the selection of tracks that have been carefully selected for the project “I believe there is a soundtrack for every moment in our life. In this EP I tried to capture what that means to me. A lot of long studio sessions and late nights went into getting this EP lyrically and musically perfect. As I say in the introduction track.... "I can sleep when I'm dead, NO RESTING"
