4 September 2020 - Global megastar and multihyphenate Jackson Wang has teamed up with the multi-platinum dance-pop duo Galantis to debut an exhilarating new dance anthem and music video for 'Pretty Please', via 88rising, distributed by 12tone. Listen to 'Pretty Please' and watch the video BELOW.

The 'Pretty Please' music video - directed, written, and edited by Jackson himself - is an homage to the classic Hong Kong Chinese films he grew up watching. Jackson’s high energy choreography is performed alongside the globally acclaimed dance group and frequent collaborators Kinjaz. Coupled with Hong Kong Chinese cinematic elements and powerhouse beats, Jackson displays his globally-minded approach to dance-pop music.

Throughout the video, Jackson showcases the symbolism of wolves’ loyalty to their lovers, an anecdote of Jackson’s chase for his one true love. The ambiguous ending leaves the audience to decide for themselves if this has all been a dream, as the closing scene returns to Jackson sitting at the restaurant.

On 'Pretty Please' Jackson says, “This collaboration with Galantis is an honor. It’s been fun working with them and I can’t wait to meet them as soon as possible.” He continues, “The song itself is a love story about me falling in love with a girl and confessing how much I adore her. I wrote the treatment, directed the video visually and creatively, and edited it. Growing up as a kid, I watched a lot of Hong Kong Chinese movies, which were the visual inspirations for this music video. I’ve admired so many actors in those movies, and I thought it’d be interesting to present this love story in the 90s Hong Kong Chinese vibe, mood, and tone.”

Christian from Galantis explains, “I was stoked to be able to collab with Jackson, as I’m such a big fan of his. Jackson sent me an idea that was so unique and I immediately fell in love with the song thinking about all the creative possibilities.”

'Pretty Please' comes on the heels of Jackson’s hit single '100 Ways' which has pierced the cultural zeitgeist since its March release, amassing over 175M+ streams and making Jackson the first Chinese Solo Artist to enter Mediabase’s Mainstream Top 30 Chart, reaching #24 on the chart.

ABOUT GALANTIS

Setting a new standard for songwriting in dance music, Galantis is a collaborative project between Christian Karlsson (aka Bloodshy, one-third of Miike Snow) and Linus Eklöw (aka Style of Eye). Their debut album Pharmacy reached No. 1 on the Billboard Dance album chart on the strength of RIAA gold certified single “Peanut Butter Jelly” and platinum certified smash “Runaway (U & I)” – the latter of which earned GRAMMY nominations for “Best Dance Recording” and “Best Remixed Recording” – while their 2017 sophomore album The Aviary (featuring platinum certified single “No Money”) saw a top 10 debut in 23 countries and 2020 album Church features their chart-topping single “Faith” with country music icon Dolly Parton featuring Dutch singer-songwriter Mr. Probz. The duo have received over 3 billion cumulative worldwide streams, and over 1 billion video views to date.

The story of Galantis started back in 2009. Working as Bloodshy, Karlsson’s songwriting collaborations have included Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry and Britney Spears (whose “Toxic” earned a GRAMMY for “Best Dance Recording”). After reaching out to Eklöw (who produced Icona Pop’s hit single “I Love It” as Style of Eye) to remix Miike Snow’s “Animal,” the two continued to collaborate until ultimately Galantis was born. Following their blockbuster performance debut at 2014's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the duo quickly rose to become one of dance music's most dynamic and in-demand live performers.
