Already marked out to be a true landmark moment for Black festival culture this August, the inaugural Yam Carnival continues to innovate and grow with brand new platform Afrotronic announcing its full incredible lineup heading to Yam Carnival this summer.

A pioneering new voice for Black electronic music culture, Afrotronic will launch with a unique stage takeover at the festival this August. Bringing together the eclectic and bubbling club sounds found across the diaspora, Afrotronic will champion and elevate these unmissable sounds through a series of events, takeovers and much more across the planet over the coming years.

Whether it’s the rich sounds of Afrohouse, or the underground sounds of South African youth culture - stretching back to the influence of Kwaito, through to Bacardi and Gqom, and to the vibrant new sound of Amapiano that’s gripping the planet right now - the foundations of Black electronic music are now more prevalent than ever. Making its mark around the world, these vibrant, jazzy and unmistakable rhythms are sweeping across some of the biggest tracks, producers and performers in the scene today.

Afrotronic launches as the home of vibrant underground Black electronic culture - with Yam Carnival an opening celebration for what’s to come.

Nestled within the Afrotronic Stage are some of the biggest names in electronic music. Renowned around the world as one of the very best doing it right now, Honey Dijon will head to Clapham Common this summer for a thrilling set packed with the euphoric highs and uncompromising style that’ll have fans glued to her set from start to finish. South Shields’ own Richy Ahmed heads to Yam Carnival this summer, promising an authentic afrohouse set marked by the sounds of a true student of the game - and perfect for coming together once again under summer skies.

Pivotal to everything Afrotronic is all about, is showcasing the biggest and best names making waves across the electronic diaspora world. Praised as a duo bringing the UK’s afro house scene into a brand new era, Sef Kombo & Kitty Amor’s set at Yam Carnival is sure to be a must-see moment of pure celebration as thousands gather together for an unforgettable party on Clapham Common.

South African trailblazer DJ Lag comes to Yam, credited for bringing through the early sounds of Gqom with pivotal tracks like ‘Ice Drop’, as well as more recently ‘MY POWER’, the triumphant Lion King collaboration with none other than Beyoncé, Nija, Tierra Whack, Yemi Alade and Moonchild Sanelly, showcasing the limitless influence of these sounds this summer.

Meanwhile the thriving Amapiano scene will be fully represented by the likes of well known Female Boss of Amapiano DBN Gogo and one of the most recognizable figures in the genre, the Baby Boy, Vigro Deep.

One of the most talked about new DJs in the UK right now Jaguar will touch down on the Afrotronic Stage this summer, bringing through the freshest new names whilst fiercely championing inclusivity in the scene, whilst the renowned SA producer and Black Coffee collaborator Culoe De Song and Portuguese/Angolan Afro Tech DJ DJeff showcase their own unique platter of moments for an eager Yam Carnival audience to eat up at every single drop.

It comes together to form a key part of Yam Carnival this summer, with Afrotronic serving as the perfect jukebox and soundtrack to an unrivalled celebration of Black culture around the world.

The Afrotronic Stage is just one part of a huge lineup coming to London’s Clapham Common on Saturday August 28th, moving with true carnival vibes as international superstars bring the fire to Yam Carnival. From an iconic headline set courtesy of Davido, to the likes of Kehlani, NSG, Yemi Alade, Koffee, Ari Lennox, Pa Salieu, Nao, Darkoo, Patornaking, Femi Kuti, Fally Ipupa, Omah Lay, Rema, Midas The Jagaban, Princess Nokia, Ms Banks and many many more - Yam Carnival is the only place to be this August Bank Holiday Weekend. A welcome addition to the festival landscape in 2021, Yam Carnival is set to shake up London in a big way, bringing together so many sounds and styles from all across the African continent, the Caribbean, America, Canada and the UK, this show is a true melting pot of Black culture.

Alongside a truly impressive lineup, Yam Carnival will bring together a mouthwatering array of food & drink from around the world - sampling in those special dishes that we’ve all come to know and love. From top African-influenced food trucks and chefs from around London, expect contemporary bites and traditional home comforts all setting up shop at Yam Carnival this August.
