Ke$ha books into a rehab centre to treat an eating disorder

Ke$ha, real name Kesha Rose Sebert, is being treated at the Timberline Knolls Centre, which is set in 43-acres near Chicago and specialises in helping women coping with anorexia, bulimia and binge-eating.

The 26-year-old singer said in a statement provided by her spokesman:

"I'm a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I've found it hard to practice. I'll be unavailable for the next 30 days, seeking treatment for my eating disorder."

Ke$ha is known for performing hits Crazy Love, Die Young and Timber, with US rapper Pitbull. She also starred in the MTV reality series 'My Crazy, Beautiful Life'.

The announcement comes just days after she released her self-directed video for the song 'Dirty Love', in which she strips perfoming a can-can.

After the video was released, Ke$ha tweeted: "Cheers to this year being the best year ever. 2014 gon be the year of truth and freedom."

Timberline Knolls claims on its website to treat eating disorders with "input from the woman, her loved ones and our experts".

Ke$ha said she hoped rehab would help her to "learn to love myself again, exactly as I am".
