Fusing the vocal command of Joan Jett, the artistic eccentricity of the B 52s and the hooky edge of Lizzo, the debut album, Reclaim Your Power, from Madam Who? is an emboldening experience from start to finish.

The Eastern Shore, MD, USA pop-rock eclecticist roots her music in powerful uplifting lyrics and allows it to catchily blossom through the melodic elements that make earworms out of her anthems. The album starts with the title single, which easily asserts the singer-songwriter’s confidence before moving on to the solidarity offering single, ‘You Are Not Alone’.

Track 4, Strange & Beautiful, starts as a gently tenacious pop ballad that breezes through compassionate lyricism into land in an anthem which could easily hold a stadium’s attention. The LP concludes on an almost theatrically sombre note with Sincerest Thank You, which oozes cinematic pop decorum.

Throughout her long-spanning music career, which she has returned to after a pause, the artist has been flown to NYC to perform for the first American Music Awards New Music Award.

Madam Who? said:

“I wrote these songs as a form of therapy after I hit the most difficult time in my life. After being emotionally abused and abruptly discarded, I started my life over with little knowledge of who I was anymore. Before this destructive relationship, I pursued a music career. When it was over, I started writing again, with a focus on empowerment, not my life’s antagonists. The overall message is to be kind and love yourself.”

Amelia Vandergast, the Executive Editor at A&R Factory said:

“Reclaim Your Power will send you right back to the 90s, when the icons in pop-rock ceased to be predominantly male and empowering energy started to bleed across the airwaves. The LP is a sure-fire serotonin giver for anyone that knows how it feels to claw back your autonomy.”

About

I started writing songs again the day after I tried to save my 10-year-old daughter from an Atlantic rip current, only to be swept away myself; two kind strangers rescued us and helped me live to tell the tale.

Unlike when I moved to Nashville and led a band across LA and NYC which became a finalist in consideration for an AMA New Music Award, this time, I wasn’t writing for my success; I was writing to help people.

My debut album, released on May 17th, 2022, was self-produced – despite my connection to sound engineers. Until I started recording my album, the only instrument I never learned was the drums, so I taught myself on Logic Pro.
