Brooklyn, NY independent artist, nasir mf. followed his debut single, fucking lonely, with the carnally hyper-sonic electro hit, romantic fury, on January 6th.

Featuring beats from Flame Yuppie, romantic fury unravels through infectious synth-carved melodies and enough percussive flair to command a dance floor while the soundtrack to hedonistic pleasure uses admissions of obsession as a relatable reprise.

The ECHOVALLEY remix of romantic fury is also now available to stream; the extended version starts with dream pop 8-bit textures before the fiery mash-up builds into an explorative bass-slicked playlist staple.

nasir mf. said:

“This track is a hyper pop banger with rap verses for the electro-loving hopeless romantics. I made this track about experiencing limerence – that obsessive, unhealthy feeling that we often get for someone.

I wanted to appeal to all the people who have someone who fucks with their mental state. It is super unhealthy, but hey, it happens... it is honest.”

Amelia Vandergast, the Executive Editor at A&R Factory said:

“nasir mf. won us over with his emo hyperpop debut in 2022; for 2023, the queer icon in the making reached stratospheric heights with his sophomore single, romantic fury. It is impossible not to feel the heat while reveling in the affirmation that there is nothing sane or rational about passion."

About

nasir mf. made his debut with fucking lonely in December 2022. Between releases, they have performed at Elsewhere – an international tour across Latin America and Europe is in the pipeline for the artist keen to inspire other queer BIPOC to create and release their art.

Behind his distinctive style lies the inspiration from the 80s and 90s NYC freestyle movement (AKA Latin Freestyle). The synths and songs from artists including Exposé, Rockell, Stevie B, and others lit a liberating spark.

Currently, his influences come from PC Music and PC Music-adjacent artists like Charli XCX, Namasenda, Caroline Polachek and SOPHIE. Their relentlessly bent and distorted soundscapes led to the epiphany that music is as limitless as the artist creating it.
