London’s most versatile hip-hop artist, Poet Initiative, scribed his freshly honed melodic RnB-laced sonic signature into the airwaves with his debut EP, Ocean Drive, which is set for release on July 26.

With influences from Reggaeton to Korean Hip Hop, it’s all in the sun-soaked mix of the 4-track EP that will be a hit with fans of Bad Bunny and Jay Park. The title single brings an oceanic view to your speakers while the harmonic vocal lines gel with the romantically mellifluous grooves.

Sharing production duties with the Malaysian artist and producer Reckless Escapades, Poet Initiative did so much more than break down genre constraints when he broke the monocultural mould with Ocean Drive. He prised the essence from a versatile sonic palette before serving up a fresh slice of melodic hip-hop you can vibe, grind and chill to.

Poet Initiative said:

“Ocean Drive reflects my evolving sound; I’ve always found myself caught between wanting to create music you can dance to but also kick back to; the catchy hooks and warm melodies in my EP combine that.

This EP is underpinned by the overarching message to have fun, be yourself, enjoy those long summer nights, party in the sunshine, and make the most of those moments’ life gives you.”

Amelia Vandergast, the Executive Editor at A&R Factory said:

“With the good vibes and even better rhythmics, Ocean Drive is a stellar seminal EP that hits sweet spots you didn’t know existed.”

About

After starting as a poet, dabbling in boom bap and UK hip-hop, I finally found my melodic RnB-laced hip-hop sound, inspired by the Reggaeton, Korean & Japanese hip-hop and UK garage scenes. I dropped my debut single in 2018, and since then, I’ve worked hard to hone my dynamic sound and materialise my sonic vision.

In the past year, I've stepped back from music slightly to set my priorities straight, but now I’m ready to release my music and gain traction again.
