In his most commercial pop track to date, the Polish, UK-residing singer-songwriter, Jay Hofman, ensured all heads were over euphoric heels in his indie electro earworm, I Can’t Sing.

Finding the middle ground between the Scissor Sisters and Daft Punk, Hofman spoke for everyone who knows the frustration of being unable to bring synergy between feeling and conversing. With rap bars as snappy as the solid backbeat and the harmonies reaching the pinnacle of sticky-sweet, I Can’t Sing hits the nail on the iconic oscillating-with-funk head.

I Can't Sing is the first single from Hofman’s upcoming album 'Commentarium de Paradiso'; it was recorded with Chris Hughes at Oscillate Recordings in Cheshire before hitting all major streaming platforms on September 8th.

Jay Hofman said:

“I am fully aware I’m more of a songwriter than a vocalist. I have been told my vocals “could be better” on several occasions, so I thought it would be fun to take it on board, run with humility and write a song about it. I also wanted to include a message a lot of regular folks, like myself, could relate to.

In essence, I Can’t Sing is a hymn for those who aren’t eloquent in matters of the heart but are always looking for ways to express their emotions. I wanted to portray that, in the end, all that matters is doing something that makes you and others happy and to go full circle, that is what I wanted to achieve with this track.”

Amelia Vandergast, the Executive Editor at A&R Factory said:

“Semi-ironically, wholly ingeniously, Hofman crafted one of the most universally relatable love songs to date; with swathes of infectious euphoria to boot, the track orbits perfection while embracing imperfection.”

About

Jay Hofman is a Manchester-based singer-songwriter who has flitted between alt, pop, and indie in his career, which stems back to 2011 when he started to demo his music on indie streaming platforms.

In 2012, he launched his debut single, Easy to Say, followed by his debut LP, Avant-Garde, produced by Sean Redmond of Ethos Music, which emulated the essence of a Winehouse, Libertines and Muse synthesis.

In 2015 Jay teamed up with Sean again and the sophomore album 'The Modern Vintage' was launched. It was promoted by 3 singles and music videos ('Hard Enough', 'Lightbulbs' and 'The Modern Vintage').

To date, Hofman has plenty of shows in the US, UK, Poland, Italy, Spain and Germany and successful singles under his talented belt, all of which have exhibited Hofman’s experimental side.

His upcoming album, 'Commentarium de Paradiso' is scheduled to launch in Jan 2024.
