Remembering Andy GillOFFICIAL PRESS RELEASENEWS PROVIDED BY BMG BMG mourns the loss of Andy Gill, founder and lead guitarist to Gang of Four, one of the most influential British rock bands. BMG is the proud music publisher of Andy Gill’s catalogue. In leading the band’s jagged sound, Andy was often hailed as one of the world’s greatest guitar players and inspired generations of musicians including Nirvana, REM, Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party and Liars. The Gang of Four produced a post-punk sound defining a whole era of new music coming out of Britain in the late 70s. BMG sends condolences to his family, bandmates, friends, fans, and everyone he touched and inspired around the world.
