Today (July 7) BMG publishing client Ringo Starr is spending his 82nd birthday once again sending ‘Peace & Love’ around the world and now – into the universe.

In honor of his birthday, the Artemis Mission Control Center in Houston, Texas will beam his annual message and now his music – Starr’s 2021 single ‘Let’s Change The World’ and ‘Star Song’ – to the International Space Station, where it will “orbit around the Earth, passing over many countries and much of the Earth’s population and beam back down messages of peace and love while also traveling out to distant stars,” according to an official of the event.

Said Starr, “Just to remind you one more time, on the seventh of the seventh, the seventh of July, at noon, 12 midday, I just ask you to go ‘Peace & Love’, or even think it. Because it goes out there… ‘Peace & Love’ at noon, any way you want to do it, it’s fine by me.”

‘Peace & Love’ is a global celebration, which Starr started in 2008 to celebrate his birthday, with 26 countries now involved, beginning in Australia where the first ‘Peace & Love’ event of the day will begin at noon local time.

Internationally, the events will continue on through to Japan, Russia, Greece, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Italy; the UK, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Panama, El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and for the first time, South Africa.

In the US, the ‘Peace & Love’ celebrations will continue from New York City to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum to Los Angeles.

While no in-person events will be held this year due to COVID ordinances, the Beatles Channel on SiriusXM will air special programming celebrating Starr’s birthday, while Starbucks will also play a special Ringo Starr playlist in more than 10,000 stores and share a special Peace & Love message at noon at participating locations.
