Charlotte-based duo ahaComa is making waves in the music industry with their innovative blend of rock, pop, and indie, creating what they call ‘American Daydream Music’. Comprised of singer-songwriter multi-instrumentalists Hannah Finley and Rob Losier, ahaComa is pioneering a new musical genre that pushes boundaries and captivates audiences.

The journey of ahaComa began with a serendipitous encounter at an open mic event, where Hannah and Rob immediately recognized their shared musical vision. Since then, they have been on a mission to craft a sound that defies conventional genres and transcends traditional boundaries. ahaComa offers a fresh perspective on soundscapes that capture listeners' attention in mesmerising ways.

ahaComa's music is characterized by visionary arrangements, infectious beats, and thought-provoking lyrics that invite listeners in a journey of self-discovery and introspection. Drawing inspiration from their experiences and observations, the duo infuse each track with authenticity and raw emotion, creating a sonic landscape that resonates with audiences of all backgrounds.

Before the pandemic, ahaComa began work on their self-titled record, but they were interrupted halfway through. It was a period of self-examination while a global awakening to the need for the world to break its usual pattern of events.

In the opening song ‘Vultures,’, Rob writes about his daughter, asking her to enjoy herself and not worry, and he assures her that he will always be there for her. The song is a demonstration of ahaComa's varied approach as well as the ability of music to elicit strong feelings and send important messages. Weaving ethereal vocals, and a touch of indie sensibility with a psychedelic twist are all skillfully captured in this song.

The indie-pop-rock tune ‘Servant of Fear’ explores the challenge of putting everything on the line when one is "all in" for the possibility of failure.

The concept of growing up feeling like you're in danger of leading an average life and then realising you've followed this road that has eventually gone nowhere is explored in the indie song ‘Nowhereland’. It serves as a reminder of the value of pursuing your ambitions despite social pressure to conform to what others consider to be "the norm".

‘EmoJoint’, an emo-pop song, is about unfulfilled expectations and wanting to be accepted for who you are, flaws and all.

‘Saved By a Lifeguard’ is a chill rock song about having a safety net and someone to turn to when you find yourself in a precarious situation. Someone or something to lean on, but also a crutch against having to handle life's challenges alone.

Closing out the album with the title track, ‘ahaComa’, the song is based on Plato's cave allegory, and is a dream pop composition. Life and how you traverse it are greatly influenced by perspective. Occasionally, being exposed to a new perspective might provide you with such profound knowledge that it could lead to an epiphany.

With their bold creativity and fearless approach to music-making, ahaComa is poised to leave an indelible mark on the music industry. Their commitment to innovation and experimentation sets them apart as true pioneers in the realm of contemporary music.

Listeners will find something they can connect to on each of the six tracks. ahaComa and their self-titled album both exhibit their ability to transition between genres with grace and ease, with solid genre-blend foundations encircled by a wide range of tracks that highlight their whole spectrum of musical influences.

Speaking on the album, ahaComa comment, “"ahaComa" delves into the complexities of the human experience and expressions of emotions and personal stories. Each track serves its purpose in communicating feelings of love, loss, hope, introspection, and more.”
