UK band Project Blackbird return with their musically and thematically rich second studio album. 'If This Is The End' is at turns bittersweet, uplifting and thought-provoking. Featuring a guest appearance from The Specials' Lynval Golding, this collection of 13 tracks is entrancing from start to finish. Enjoy a mix of spoken word and singing in the vocal. There is masterful instrumentation throughout; a blend of guitars, synth, acoustic percussion, string and horn sections.

Project Blackbird marked a more focused musical direction for long-time bandmates Ming Nagel (lyrics, vocals) and multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Jon Read, former trumpet player for The Specials. In 2018, with a new name, a pared-back line-up, and a darker, more electronic vibe, they released their debut album Endurance to quietly fervent word-of mouth acclaim.

Robust gigging within the UK and Europe, and writing new material together, helped to hone Project Blackbird’s internal partnerships and craft an increasingly confident and immersive sound – one that is evident in abundance on their eclectic new album. Drawing upon intellect and emotion in equal measure, “If This Is the End” finds the band secure in their collective identity but not afraid to push the boundaries of creativity and expression.
