As entrances go, they don’t get more fabulous than French Fries and Margarita’s, a queer superstar in the making who is bringing light, love and hair spray to all those who need it. And that’s a lot. And their debut single, Crimes Against Nature, is everything French Fries and Margarita stands for, wrapped up in one very pretty, very funny, very edgy, very glamorous bundle. The message is political and heart-breaking, the package you’re getting it in is fabulous. ‘Crimes Against Nature is a legal term from the 19th and 20th centuries used to allege that same-sex activity or any sexual activity that was non-mainstream was a crime against nature, punishable even by death. The video, meanwhile, is an extravaganza featuring ‘The Pope’, ‘The Queen’, ‘The Donald’ dancing with the young and the beautiful in a private club. ‘It’s hard to make people listen to a speech or follow the news but if you give solutions to the world’s problems through music, that’s how you reach people,’ explains French Fries and Margarita. As for the name? ‘I’d go to clubs and watch beautiful hot guys and girls while sipping my Margarita and eating my French Fries in the corner.’ And we can all drink to that.
