'Soft Fall' is the debut release by Auckland artist Darkhues formally playing under the name Glowdogs and leading fuzz garage band Haawaaii. Darkhues sound like a cross breed of early 1980’s upbeat music that has evolved into its own musical universe of multi instrument indie electronica. Darkhues who combines technical creativity and innovation with live sound, layering vocals over guitars, popping synthesizers and driving bass undertones.

'Soft Fall' takes you on a well rounded journey with a hints of darkwave, alternative pop songs and rock. All instruments are performed by multi instrumentalists Hugh Smith, adding not only his technical ability to play live but to perform well structured songs with a ‘full band’ sound

Darkhues is the new project from Hugh Smith. After singing for numerous years in London and Auckland bands (Haawaaiii, Glowdogs) and experimenting with one man bands in Berlin, Smith returns with the debut Darkhues album 'Soft Fall'.

Recorded in West Auckland, the album compliments flavours of post punk/ darkwave electronica with underlying guitars, blended vocals, popping synthesizers and foot-tapping drumming. Darkhues tips their hat to The Cure, Suicide and Joy Division.
