'The First Time' is about different phases you go through when getting over a break up. 80% of the song is referencing the experience of the first time meeting someone new post break up (1st verse), having sexual relations with them (chorus) and things progressing to the point where the new girl is asking to be exclusive (2nd verse). In the bridge and final chorus we hear what is truly going on. The guy has been using the new girl to get over his ex. In the last chorus, he realises he does not like the person he's become but he's numb. He's been dating and sleeping with the new girl but what he truly wants is his old relationship with his ex back and to possibly experience the feeling of falling in love with her again like 'The First Time'.

After a period that shifted his perspective on life, singer-songwriter and producer Qastalani came into the game late putting out his self-released debut acoustic EP Hope I’m Not Too Late (2019) on December 28th - a few months after turning 28 years old. His music primarily can be described as dark, mellow R&B with the occasional Pop and party tracks. He then went on to release his first studio-produced R&B single, If the World Ends Tomorrow in October, 2020.
