Oxlip (Jayne Trimble), a multi-faceted, multi-instrumentalist and Vancouver-based songwriter, has created an ambitious and intentional new album 'Your Mother Was a Peacock' and it is officially released on Garment District Records. This intriguingly titled, third album is dedicated to re-telling stories of women throughout history and the price they have paid to a cruel patriarchal society. All ten tracks are couched in lovely melodies and delivered in a lullingly sweet voice.

Oxlip continues to preview the new album with a live performance of captivating track single, 'White Dove'. Previously, Oxlip has previewed other album tracks, 'Daddysaurus' inspired by the tragic character Iphigenia from the Greek Trilogy The Oresteia. Iphigenia is sacrificed by her father King Agamemnon to appease the goddess Artemis to win the Trojan war, and “Nøkken” based on a Norwegian fairytale by the same name. Where a shapeshifting river beast lures women into the river, by any means, and kills them.

Album title-track, “Your Mother Was a Peacock” was written from the viewpoint of WWI dancer and courtesan Mata Hari. Sentenced to death for espionage, she sits in her prison cell the night before she is to be executed and writes a letter to her daughter.
