SKILLS-BUILDING SUPPORT NOW AVAILABLE TO MUSICIANS

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

NEWS PROVIDED BY
Help Musicians UK

We know that musicians have had to adapt where they can this year and, as we move towards 2021 hopeful that a return to live music will come sooner rather than later, Help Musicians wants to do all it can to equip music creators with the skills they need to thrive next year.

Taking applications until January 25, Help Musicians' Transmission Fund (https://bit.ly/34rzV57) supports musicians to progress development opportunities, such as online courses, 1:1 coaching, conference attendance, songwriting academies and masterclasses. To ensure this support benefits the individual and their circumstances, applicants are free to specify opportunities relevant to them, so whether it's a mixing and mastering course or 1-on-1 time with a leader in their field, they can feel confident making their next move.

Previous awardee, composer Ruta Vitkauskaite, spent time this year learning the business side of her craft with popular Scottish composer and mentor Matthew Whiteside, ultimately leading to the release of her next album. She said: “It was a life changer to receive this funding and up-skill myself for this unusual period we all live in! Just a few months ago I got support from Help Musicians and had a fantastic mentoring with Matthew Whiteside about self-releasing online. As a direct result of this support, I was able to release my new album.”

Offering financial help up to £1,500, Transmission can support musicians to progress an online course in sound production or mixing and mastering, attend a virtual masterclass with a specialist in their field, attend those all-important music theory lessons, or allow them to connect with a musical mentor who will shape their future.

Available to emerging and professional musicians of all genres and disciplines, you can be an instrumentalist, composer, producer, conductor, vocalist or singer- songwriter etc. Transmission can also support bands or ensembles consisting of six members or less.

We understand that filling out application forms is not for everyone and that’s why we offer all musicians an option to submit an application by video too. Either way, remember to put your best foot forward whatever the medium – have a look at our blog section below or some tips on this.
