The Do It Differently Awardee and BBC Introducing championed singer, songwriter and filmmaker, Jay Moussa-Mann returns with a brand-new single “War,” showcasing Jay’s singular indie-pop sound and sweet, powerful vocals.

The accompanying music video, directed by the artist, acts as yet another layer of the song, defined by intense, animalistic movements, nude colour palette and moody cinematography, burrowing a level deeper into the poetry and meaning of the lyrics.

“War came out of a 30 day songwriting challenge and it’s been a bit of a gift for me,” Jay shares. “I felt this was another breakthrough in more authentic lyric writing and a step forward in production.”
Speaking of the video Jay adds, “War is about those everyday silent rivalries and intrigues we face in ordinary situations. At work, in families, at garden parties. All very repressed and polite - it describes a ‘civilised’ war, which is why the music video is so powerful to me; because it reveals the underlying humanity of how we really want to react when we feel threatened, underneath the social facade.”

“War” marks Jay’s third single since releasing “American Tennessee,” a single which premiered in Music Crowns who called it, “so good and compelling that it has the power to erase pretty much anything else that you had the opportunity to listen to on that day.” American Tennessee was chosen in the roundup of BBC Introducing Tees Best of 2021, won Track of the Week on BBC Tees Introducing and has been been broadcast on Amazing Radio and Roxanne de Bastion’s Monday Morning Shake Up Show on Boogaloo Radio.

With its sensory lyrics and dark themes, War is an uncomfortably honest depiction of human deception.
