Austin, Texas' favorite five-piece indie rock band Sarah and the Sundays collaborates with much-celebrated actress Eliza Taylor on her directorial debut in the music video for the band's infectious new single "Vices."

The music video, which premiered exclusively on Wonderland and was described by the outlet as "a glimpse into a universal journey so many have been on and can find solace in its story," is Eliza Taylor's first time behind the camera and proves that she has the knack for capturing & telling a story succinctly while keeping the song's message alive. Blurring the lines between psychedelic and whimsy, viewers can watch as lead singer Liam is hit with nostalgia as he looks back on the moments with his partner, played by Eliza Taylor. Speaking on the video, Eliza says "While lyrically Vices is a melancholy song about heartbreak, it has a cheerful and upbeat sound. We wanted to honor that juxtaposition in this video while telling a real story. We didn’t just want to make a music video, we wanted to make a short film about love lost and hope. I couldn’t be more thrilled with the finished product, especially with this being my directorial debut in the music space.”

Sarah & the Sundays expresses a similar thought. "The ‘Vices’ video follows a character throughout his journey to reconnect with a lost love. The song has many layers, so finding a narrative for the video was a thoughtful and exciting process. Working with Eliza Taylor was a dream come true! She added so much life to the project, on and off the camera.”

Serving as the band’s follow-up to their much-loved EP EP “Half Way Home,” "Vices" showcases what the band is quickly becoming known for: a band who can get the party started simply by a strum of a guitar or a beat of a drum (and has the feverish fanbase to prove it).

The first release ahead of their upcoming record "THE LIVING END," "Vices" is a glimpse into the band's progression and development since their EP. Speaking on the track, the band describes Vices as "the result of our first ever visit to a studio. It’s a song about loss, growth, and change overall. We hope listeners relate to the universal feeling of life’s evolution and find meaning in the feelings we expressed about such change."

The release of "Vices" follows their "Half Way Home" EP, released earlier this year, which was written just before the world shut down & during the early stages of the pandemic, "Half Way Home" is a 4-track collection of songs that 1883 Magazine described as "equal parts invigorating and infectious." Included on the EP is "I'm So Bored," a track that perfectly articulates the mundanity of living in quarantine. When asked about the inspiration for the song, the band states “Liam wrote this one about a week into the lockdowns. The song more or less speaks for itself, however in no way did we think it would be so relevant for so long.” Also included on the EP is the punchy track “Take Your Time,” which the band describes as “a song that originated in Liam’s attempt to quit cigarettes, but expanded to represent the overall theme of giving up bad habits and wishing you could get back time you spent on something regrettable.”

Charting a year of life for the band and written entirely by the members of the band — Miles McCarthy-Reynolds, Quinn Lane, Liam Yorgensen, Brendan Whyburn, and Declan Chill — the "Half Way Home" EP navigates everything from breaking bad habits to being utterly bored even before the pandemic. Known for having a knack for unforgettable hooks paired with universally relatable (and sometimes tongue-in-cheek) lyrics, Sarah and the Sundays, have received support from everyone from rock band Smash Mouth who claimed "Take Your Time" as their #MouthPick, SiriusXM's Alt Nation included the track as a critical cut, indie tastemakers like A1234, Flex and Out Now Magazine, and the band have started to garner a feverish fanbase of people who think of them as their hidden gem indie secret.
