Pop superstar Katy Perry has finally debuted her highly anticipated music video for new single, 'Birthday'. 

The video premiered this afternoon (April 24) and it shows Perry in a variety of disguises ranging from a provocatively dressed older lady character named Goldie to a clown wearing a brightly-coloured outfit. 

She told her fans earlier this week that this video is her most outrageous yet and tweeted: "Guys. The video for #Birthday is the most insane one I've ever done."

The offering was directed by Marc Klasfeld and Danny Lockwood, and was produced by Dawn Rose. Tweeting about the release of the promo clip in the past few minutes, she explained that she is very excited about it: "GUYS, PREPARE YOURSELVES cuz it's time to bring out the big balloons and #MakeItLikeYourBirthday!"

Perry, meanwhile, recently admitted that she was excited to be finally challenging herself again: "I’m challenging myself again, pushing my limits as I do, as a Scorpion does. I’m very excited because I believe this is my best work yet as far as live performances. It’s going to be just as colourful and fun as before, but it’s obviously not based on candy. It’s grown up. It’s more mature.”
