Cheryl Cole on not working with will.i.am: "I want to be my own person this time"

Cheryl Cole has opened up on why she hasn't teamed up with will.i.am on her new single.

The singer today (June 2) unveiled the song 'Crazy Stupid Love' ahead of its release on July 20.

The track features a guest spot from Tinie Tempah and some have wondered why she didn't collaborate with long-time mentor will.i.am.

Cole told Capital FM that she was keen to go it alone on her upcoming album, which should be released in November.

The singer said: "Will's been doing his own thing. I went and did a guest appearance for him on his tour. But it's different, it's like my fourth album. I wanted to step alone.

"I would still ask him his advice, play him tracks and stuff. But it just feels like I want to be my own person this time."
