Sam Smith supports same-sex marriage in new video

Sam Smith has released his latest music video.

The singer is unleashing the track 'Lay Me Down' as his next single on March 15.

Its video was unveiled today (February 5) and it sees Smith get married to a man in a church.

The Brit said in an accompanying Instagram post that he wanted to use the promo clip to show his support for same-sex marriage taking place "under any roof".

He wrote: "This song holds a very dear place in my heart. With this video myself and Ryan Hope the director have decided to make a statement and showcase something we passionately believe in.

"This video shows my dreams that one day gay men and women and transgendered men and women all over the world, like all our straight families and friends, will be able to get married under any roof, in any city, in any town, in any village, in any country. I hope you enjoy it. I love you all x."

'Lay Me Down' meanwhile features on Sam Smith's 2014 debut album 'In The Lonely Hour'.
