Sam Smith wants his music to inspire gay children

Sam Smith says he would like his music to "inspire" gay youths.

The singer told London's Evening Standard that he wishes his 2014 debut album 'In The Lonely Hour' will act as a future source of strength.

The Brit said: "I'm just trying to make music that stands the test of time.

"So that, in 400 years, when a little kid who's gay listens to 'In the Lonely Hour', or my next record, he will be inspired."

The record focuses on heartbreak and features the tracks 'Stay With Me' and 'I'm Not The Only One'.
