Country starlet Taylor Swift has released the brand new video for her latest single ‘Mean’, which made its debut at 10pm EST last night.

The airing comes after the singer teased fans with a still showing her tied to railroad tracks Western-style. As the still promised, the video has turned out a vaudevillian production complete with period clothing and comedy-moustachioed villains.

Other scenes show Broadway musical-like sets tied together with a theme of empowerment. Some show a little girl overcoming exclusion by peers and others show a woman working from a job as a billboard sign to becoming a powerful executive. The video rounds off in the style of ‘Chicago’ with Swift in a flapper dress and crimson lips.
