George Michael has finally been released from hospital after his battle with pneumonia. 

The iconic star was admitted to intensive care back in November after the illness forced him to cancel the remaining dates on his recent Symphonica tour, but has now been allowed to leave just in time for Christmas. 

A hospital staff member told the Austrian newspaper Osterreich: "He's feeling a lot better. He's doing so well, he's able to fly again."

48-year-old Michael had spent a considerable amount of time at the AKH clinic in Vienna, Austria and upon being discharged this morning (December 22) at 8am local time he travelled straight to the airport so that he could return home for the holidays.
