Celine Dion speaks out against death hoax rumours

Canadian songstress Celine Dion has hit out at the number of death hoax stories that have been reported throughout her career.

The ‘My Heart Will Go On’ diva told Digital Spy that such pranks have serious ramifications on her family and make her want to leave show business.

Dion explained: “Many years ago I [apparently] killed myself in my own garage. Don't ask me why I don't want to be a part of the showbiz industry!”

The 45-year-old singer went on to recount another similar story: “'I was celebrating the birthday of my twins in Montreal and I was getting these phone calls saying there was stuff on Facebook that I was dead.”

Her main concern over such stories is the emotional distress it causes her loved ones.

Celine stated: "Sometimes it's freaky because I have to call my family about it… The thing that worries me is my mum. It makes me a little mad - she's 86 years old and if I'm not on the phone telling her I'm OK four seconds after it's on the news… It doesn't matter what they say, it's the impact it has on your family."

Celine Dion will be performing on tonight’s (November 10) episode of the ‘The X Factor’.
