18-year-old Nigerian-Scottish songwriter TAYO SOUND releases brand new track ‘SOMEONE NEW’, with an accompanying visualizer via Black Butter/Arista Records. Watch the the visual here or stream now.

The track, produced by Rob MIlton (Easy Life, Holly Humberstone), builds upon Tayo’s accomplished singles to date and slides effortlessly into a more mature sound; taking minimal funk & soul influences and melding it into a distinctly fresh sound that marks him as one of the most exciting new artists on the rise at the moment.

On the track Tayo said; “Someone New was produced by Rob who I’ve wanted to work with for a while now, I’m a big Easy Life fan so working with him was a no brainer for me. The track is about coming out of a relationship and how you might not actually be ready to find “someone new”, something I think most of us would have experiences at a point in our lives.”

‘Someone New’ follows a fantastic sold out live show last night at London’s Jazz Cafe and the release of his debut singles, ‘Cold Feet’ and ’Heartbreaker’, which have garnered nearly 3m streams combined and seen UK and US press coverage across the board. As well as love from BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and Jack Saunders and fantastic new artist support from Spotify and Apple Music; including features on the ‘Our Generation’, ‘Alt Pop’, ‘New Music Friday’ and ‘Good Energy’ playlists and hitting #5 on the Viral Chart.

Whilst working on his current set of tracks he’s had the opportunity to collaborate with the likes of Al Shux (Kendrick Lamar, SZA and Lana Del Rey), George Reid (of Aluna George), Rob Milton (Easy Life), Blake Slatkin (Juice WRLD, Omar Apollo) and The 23rd (Khalid, Grace Carter) as well as performing for BBC Introducing and alongside Lianne La Havas as part of an Annie Mac Presents night at London’s Moth Club. This groundwork is all pushing towards a body of work that will form his debut EP due later this year.
