If there’s one thing 12 Limbs possess in bundles, it’s diversity. An inexplicable drive to chisel their message into the heart of their lyrics, and shrink-wrap them with an evolving sound that never fails to excite. Their latest offering ‘Embrace’, released on 10 September, steps-up to the mark on every level of uniqueness and diversity, as our rockers from Russia pull an indulgent slice of indie-pop roaring from the 80s, slap bang into the summer of 2021. As the world learns to social distance, our provocative 12 Limbs boys urge us to ‘Embrace’.

Deep resounding 80s-inspired riffs, highly reminiscent of the likes of The Pet Shop Boys, fused with hints of The Human League, explode to life as ‘Embrace’ depicts a tale of personal freedom. A message to us all that a life of society confines, stifles our freedom, ebbing away at our true personalities inside. Engage in the lyrics and they almost resonate from the pages of George Orwell’s, 1984; with a musical direction that mirrors the pop vibe of the same year. As 12 Limbs explore a plethora of genres throughout their musical journey, this pleasure-tour through 80s pop defines one of their strongest tracks to date.

For those yet to discover the unique musical revolution of 12 Limbs, these three incredibly talented singer/songwriter/musicians, from the meteor city of Chelyabinsk (the city made famous when it hit the headlines in 2015 as it was hit by a 20m asteroid), have been growing a solid global sound-bed of support since their debut release in 2019. Their distinctive sound has garnered enviable critical acclaim, placing the boys on Classic Rock’s playlist twice over and grabbing attention with media such as Songwriting Magazine and Express FM’s Soft Rock Show. V13.net described the band as, “Bold, gritty and a ball full of energy thrown right into your face and into your ears,” and ‘Embrace’ maintains that vibrance in bucketloads. With a new album entitled ‘Magic Shining of Hope’ currently in the making, 12 Limbs are proving that the Moscow music scene is a melting pot of creativity, and these boys are on the precipice of explosion.

The new single ‘Embrace’ is released on Right Track / Universal on 10 September

About

Twelve Limbs are:
Ben: Lead vocalist/keyboards Art: Guitarist/base player Roman: Drummer
….although the talented trio defy conventional instrumental parameters by switching instruments mid performance. When everyone can play everything, why stick to one thing. And that’s where 12Limbs stand-out from the crowd. Their pioneering ethos means they’re boundary-breaking. Expect the unexpected!

Ben and Roman were thrown together through fortuitous circumstances when they met at med school, training in dentistry in Chelyabinsk, the city made famous in 2015 for the meteorite explosion. The chemistry, both socially and musically, was instantaneous. Creating a band with a mixture of other university friends, they found a low level celebrity across their local town. Two of the band members later branched-out to become highly successful plastic surgeons, whilst the dentists stuck together as a smaller band unit.

The turning point came when Ben and Roman changed university, moving to Ekaterinburg to study for their final year. The move was life changing; lifestyle, relationships and opportunities suddenly opened up and they met their third band member, Art, whose link to a recording studio (where he was a sound engineer), was the open-door they needed. The band became a tight-knit unit, living, socialising and creating music together; literally in each other’s pockets, which saw their fantastic musical chemistry wonderfully explode. Working on their self-bought ,8-track unit, which was cutting edge back in the ‘90s, exposed unimaginable musical opportunities for the band. But it didn’t take long for the boys to realise that Russian wasn’t commercially viable in rock music, so they began writing English language songs. Recording in their self-made garage and performing gigs to friends, local small crowds and making money through local event bookings, the band began to cultivate and master their live performances.

Although a fully trained dentist, Ben couldn’t deny his musical passion, and decided to turn his back on dentistry. He eventually moved to Moscow to become an event manager, which allowed him the freedom and flexibility to create music and follow his heart with other musicians, bands and sounds. At this point, the band disbanded - Roman set up a dental clinic and wrote music during his spare time, whilst Art carried on with his sound engineering job.

In 2018, the stars aligned - Ben reunited the original band, brining Roman and Art over to Moscow to rekindle their original chemistry. Spark ignited, and a lifetime of maturity and experience under their belt, the boys began writing original material – and it sounded like audio nectar. The time was right to take their music onto a global platform, and for Autumn 2019, 12 Limbs export their unique sound to the UK with the release of their debut single, ‘Follow The Music’; a very apt title for the doctors who couldn’t resist the power of their passion. Welcome 12Limbs!
