Chester indie-pop trio PEANESS are delighted to announce that they will appear as main support on Maximo Park’s forthcoming October 2021 headline tour dates, with tickets on sale now (see below for listings).

The band can also finally reveal that they have been hard at work on their long-awaited debut album, with lead single ‘What’s The Use?’ released on 22nd October 2021, and the full record set for release in 2022 - further details will follow soon.

The bumper news comes alongside an already packed upcoming live schedule for the band over the next few months, which sees them warmly embracing the return of live music and appearing at Green Man Festival, Doune The Rabbit Hole, FarmFest, FESTEVOL, Manchester Psych Fest, Confessional Festival, and Hit The North.

The band also have several headline dates booked in, with their biggest ever London headline show at Oslo coming up on 18th November 2021—tickets are on sale now (see below for listings).

Just like everyone else, Peaness had to adapt and overcome during the last 18 months. The pressures of performing live stream events and interacting with fans in new ways left them individually overwhelmed and anxious, so instead of focusing on live music, they turned their friendship into a podcast.

The first episode of Happeaness went live in October 2020, a fortnightly podcast where the trio talk about current affairs, their personal lives, recall past band adventures and occasionally have guests on to join them—notable names so far include Keith Murray (We Are Scientists), Liz Stokes (The Beths), and Sid Hand-Halford (The Orielles).

Forthcoming new single ‘What’s The Use?’ will be the first new material from the band since their 2020 AA side 7” release ‘Kaizen’/’Breakfast’, following on from their cult-hit 2017 EP Are You Sure? on Alcopop! Records.

Further details of the debut album and lead single will be revealed over the coming weeks.

New single ‘What’s The Use?’ is released 22nd October 2021

More info:

Formed late 2014 in Chester university digs, Peaness write hook-saturated, fuzzy, harmony-driven indie-pop songs about love, friendship, and mid-twenties frustrations. The trio have been playing together since summer 2015, and their fun, friendship-fuelled live performances have been winning the hearts and minds of people up and down the country ever since.

They have toured extensively, securing nationwide and international shows with The Beths, Kero Kero Bonito, The Cribs, We Are Scientists, She Drew The Gun, The Big Moon, and Dream Wife, performing at festival-circuit favourites Green Man, Benicassim, TRUCK, The Great Escape, 2000 Trees, Kendal Calling & Indietracks to name but a few.

Their releases to date have received backing from right across the spectrum at UK radio and press, including a live BBC 6music session with Marc Riley, multiple plays on BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6music, and have become firm favourites on their local BBC Introducing stations BBC Radio Wales and BBC Merseyside.

The band have also received support from Radio X, including a live session with new music guru John Kennedy, as well as a multitude of press coverage from Kerrang! Magazine, Rolling Stone, Total Guitar, DORK, UPSET, CLASH, The Skinny, The 405, Tom Tom, Gold Flake Paint, Drowned in Sound and The Metro.
