5 Seconds of Summer album expected to sell 250k copies in US

5 Seconds of Summer's debut record is expected to go straight to No.1 in the US.

The band released their self-titled maiden album on July 22 in the country after previously unleashing it in Europe and other regions of the world.

Billboard report that it is expected to sell a quarter of a million copies in the US during its first week on sale.

This means it should reach No.1 on the chart, which will be unveiled on July 30.

This year's biggest first sales week in the US comes courtesy of Coldplay's 'Ghost Stories', which sold 383k units in its first seven days.

'5 Seconds of Summer' meanwhile includes the singles 'She Looks So Perfect' and 'Don't Stop'.
