5 Seconds of Summer have covered Green Day's 'American Idiot' live.

The band performed at Los Angeles' House of Blues last night (September 10) to a rapt audience.

The Australians previously recorded a cover of Green Day's 2004 anthem 'American Idiot' for Kerrang! magazine and they performed it live at the gig.

Fans lapped up the cover, with one YouTube user commenting: "Holy sh*t that was incredible. I wish I would've been there to experience this epic moment fml."

5 Seconds of Summer meanwhile recently extended their forthcoming 2015 UK tour.

The group are due to hit the country in June, but they have added a third date at London's Wembley Arena on June 14 due to demand.
