5 Seconds of Summer bassist Calum Hood has shown his gratitude to fans for letting him become successful and making his father "proud".

The group have been in their home country Australia on tour recently and Hood's dad attended one of the gigs.

Speaking on Twitter on Thursday (June 25), the musician said that he spotted his parent singing along to tunes in the audience.

Hood said: "I saw my father singing along tonight to a song I wrote in my bedroom when I was 15.

"Thankyou for giving me a chance to make him proud."

Next up for 5 Seconds of Summer meanwhile is a date at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on June 27.
